Our Educators

Sally Dite

Sally4 Year Old Educator(Possum Group)and Director

I  am the Educator (teacher) of the 4 year old Possum Group and the Nominated Supervisor and Education Leader for Bulleen Pre-School.

I joined Bulleen Preschool in 2003 and was the Educator in the 3Y0 Koala Group until 2014.  I have worked with young children for over 20 years in early childhood settings in country Victoria, Northern and Eastern areas.

My kindergarten Learning Journey views each child as infinitely capable, creative and intelligent. My role as the educator (together with co-educators) is to support these qualities and to challenge children in appropriate ways so that they fully develop.

My approach to education is committed to create the conditions for learning that will enhance and facilitate children skills how to learn rather than what to learn.  Concepts, ideas and interest come from the children which are developed and extended through projects and collaborative work.

“Learning and teaching should not stand on opposite banks and just watch the river flow by; instead, they should embark together on a journey down the water. Through an active, reciprocal exchange, teaching can strengthen learning how to learn”.

4 year Old Co-Educator (Possum Group)

I began working as a co-educator at Bulleen Preschool in 1998. Over the past 18 years, I have developed strong relationships within the Bulleen Community. I have completed both my Certificate III and Diploma in Children’s Services.

I believe that children can learn through different “languages” and art mediums and that representing and exploring through play based learning experiences are central to their development.

I am passionate and excited about being an integral part of each child’s learning journey.

Over the past 15 years I have enjoyed working with children of all ages and abilities as a volunteer in primary and special schools and also as a teacher of preschool and infant aquatics. In 2011 I completed a Certificate III in Education Support.

I began working at Bulleen Preschool as an Additional Assistant in 2012. I was immediately impressed by the warm, nurturing environment and stimulating program. Two years later I was delighted to be offered the Co-Educator position for the Koala Group.

I love supporting children as they wonder, explore, learn and grow and feel fortunate to be part of such a dedicated and supportive team.

4 year Old Co-Educator (Possum Group)

I began working as a co-educator at Bulleen Pre- School in 2008 and during this time at the centre I have attained both my Certificate III and Diploma in Children’s Services qualifications.

I believe that it is very important to establish strong connections with each child and their families as they embark on their learning journey towards school readiness.

The Reggio Emilia influence that has been developed at this centre is very inspiring and I feel very fortunate to be part of such a diverse learning program and working alongside a very dedicated team of educators.

I am very passionate and committed to supporting the children and feel immensely rewarded to be able to share in their ideas and discoveries and seeing them grow and succeed in our beautiful environment.

I began working as an Additional Assistant at Bulleen Pre School in 2007, and shortly thereafter took on the role as a part time co-educator.  I left Bulleen Pre- School at the end of 2012 to broaden my horizons in a childcare centre environment. I am excited at the opportunity given to me by returning to this wonderful kindergarten with its inviting environment, which provides endless learning opportunities and joining a team of dedicated and caring educators.

By the end of 2012, I completed both my Certificate III and Diploma in Children’s Services. Over the 10 year period I have been working with children, I am amazed at how each and every child has their own personalities, are different and unique. I have found this to be true also in their learning. Children learn in a variety of ways and vary in their capabilities and pace of learning.

I look forward to being a part of the children’s learning and watching them grow and progress in their development.

Sarah Black Sarah Black

3 Year Old Educator (Koala Group)

I have been the 3 year old Koala group educator since my commencement at Bulleen Preschool in early 2015.  I have been working in the field of education for over 18 years in a wide variety of roles and settings.

I believe that a large component of my role is to assist in forming solid and positive relationships between the children and their families which will in turn allow the child to flourish and become the best that they can be.

What is play – play forms a big part of a child’s development. It provides the opportunity to investigate, explore, discover, practice, try, fail, succeed, observe, imagine, dream, pretend, share, listen and participate in everyday activities.
